About the Word Shuffler
This word shuffler runs entirely in your browser. It randomizes the order of words in your text while preserving each individual word — only the positions change. Useful for breaking predictable sentence structures, creating randomized content for games, or simply experimenting with language. Nothing is uploaded — the shuffling happens instantly with JavaScript on your device.
How it works
- Tokenization — The text is split into tokens using whitespace as the delimiter, preserving each word along with any attached punctuation.
- Fisher-Yates shuffle — The array of words is randomly reordered using the Fisher-Yates algorithm, ensuring a fair and unbiased shuffle.
- Reassembly — The shuffled words are joined back together with single spaces, producing the final randomized output.
How to use the shuffler

Frequently asked questions
Does this tool upload my text? No. All shuffling happens locally in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.
Will punctuation stay attached to words? Yes. Punctuation attached to a word stays with it. For example, "Hello, world!" may become "world! Hello,".
Are line breaks preserved? No. Words are rejoined with single spaces. If you need to preserve paragraph structure, shuffle each paragraph separately.
Is the shuffle truly random? It uses JavaScript's built-in pseudo-random number generator with the Fisher-Yates algorithm, which is sufficiently random for general use.
